The items I use to make fideo. Any type of canned tomatoes will work from plain diced to Rotel to mexican style. I have been told that salsa will work as well.
Brown the ground beef and onion. You can also use chicken or beef tips if you prefer. When cooked remove from pan
Add a little olive oil to the pan and brown the vermicelli. Stir a lot because it will burn!
Return the ground beef to the pan and add canned tomatoes and a can and a half of water. If you like more heat you can also add some salsa at this point.
Simmer over medium heat until vermicelli is tender
