We were busy!!!!!! Thursday evening Susan came to spend the night and brought with her a new companion. Meet Gracie!
Isn’t she the most adorable thing????? Only 5 lbs and 9 weeks old she is tiny…she makes Rudi look huge! She is so sweet and calm and even managed to win over the cats. Gracie tried so hard to get Rudi to play with her doing all of the adorable little doggie things. Jumping and wagging and bowing…..but Rudi seemed mostly confused. None of the other cats were scared of her either which is good since they will probably see Gracie pretty often. We did find that Gracie liked to chase the laser with Rudi which was hysterical to watch.
Friday we didn’t have to work…..YAHOOOO!! So we loaded up and headed to the beach bright and early. We spent the day relaxing and enjoying the sunshine. It was Gracie’s first beach trip and she did great. There were people around but it wasn’t too crowded where we went.
It was a warm day but for some reason the water felt much colder! But we had a great day grilling lunch and enjoying cocktails. The best part of the day was when we got home we didn’t have to unload the truck since we were headed right back to the beach on Saturday morning.
We left about 6 pm because we had other plans for the evening. Edward’s class was having a mini-reunion at Clicks and he wanted to go. So we went home, showered and changed and headed back out.
We had a nice time and plenty of cocktails! We got home a little before 2 am and collapsed into bed.
Saturday was family beach day! Edward dragged me out of bed at 8 am and we got to Mustang Island about 9 am and amazingly Vanessa and her group actually beat us there. The place was packed…..I mean really really packed. I have never seen so many people out there before. We had a tough time finding a spot but we managed too and staked our claim!
it was a fun day filled with sunshine, family, grandkids, and fun. Oh and dogs. Vanessa brought their newest family member Astro and she and Gracie played and tumbled nonstop all day. Since Astro is a much bigger dog we were amazed at how well Gracie held her ground.
Interestingly that is also what the Grandkids did. We spent a lot of time in the water–even though it felt chilly. Once you got in it was fine. The water was pretty rough and we were happy that high tide had passed so there was a lot of shallow area for the kids to play.
I usually end up spending at least part of the day sitting in the shallows with grandkids on my lap. It’s always fun getting splashed by the waves with them but it results with a ton of sand in my swimsuit. I was super sandy when we got home!
The day was a success and everyone had a good time! After two day I managed to come home with a pretty decent sunburn and a gorgeous ‘raccoon face’. Worst burn is on my lips…..I hate that!
Traffic on the drive home was terrible but we made it before the fireworks started. I knew the cats wouldn’t like the noise and Mommacat especially was snuggled tight against me until they stopped.
Edward promised me that I could sleep in as late as I wanted too on Sunday. What he really meant was I could sleep in as late as HE wanted too on Sunday. He still woke me up by 7:30……ugh. But I got up. We had a lot to catch up on after being in and out of the house all weekend.
We are spending the day watching movies, doing laundry and getting ready for the week. I sure wish we had a couple more days to relax but it’s back to work in the morning.
Have a great week!
