We finally had at least one nice day during the weekend after weeks of rain. Edward suggested that we should take advantage of it by going to Goliad for their Market Days, lunch and see if we could find any wildflowers. It was a gorgeous Saturday morning perfect for the drive up and we did find some nice batches of wild flowers. Mostly Indian Paintbrushes on the way to Goliad.
We got to Goliad just in time to have lunch at Empressario……Edward loves their chicken fried steak and since they are only open for lunch it’s tricky for us to get there in time. They were packed but we didn’t have to wait too long for a table. Then we headed over to the market days.
It was a perfect day…..warm in the sun but pleasant in the shade and there were a ton of vendors. We got some wine and other treats. Our big purchase was some Easter yard decorations for the Grandkids. We bought the most adorable little wooden eggs and bunny rabbits with their names on them to put in their front yard.
Then we drove down toward Beeville stopping to have a cocktail at the Chili’s in Beeville. MMmmmmmmm….I haven’t had a margarita in ages and it tasted great. But it was a little weird to be in a bar where smoking was still allowed. I really haven’t missed it!
Then it was down toward Three Rivers and that is where we started to find Bluebonnets.
Unfortunately the clouds started to catch up with us by this late in the day but it was still warm. We found lots of pretty flowers on the long drive home. We stopped at Sweeney Switch at a restaurant for dinner. Edward had been wanting to try it out and since it was dinner time we decided to stop. Pretty good food and excellent dessert.
And we even saw some deer!
We got back to Corpus after dark, tired but happy. We stopped at Vanessa’s on the way home to drop off the Easter decorations and got to see baby David. He is doing really well at potty training and it talking up a storm! He is getting so grown up.
Sunday morning after breakfast we decided to take a walk on the bayfront hoping to beat the showers on the way. We got in a very nice 4 mile walk in perfect conditions……cloudy, cool but not cold, light breeze. It felt really good to get a nice long walk in.
We had just about finished when it started to lightly sprinkle. Perfect timing! Then it was back home to get cleaned up, buy some groceries, finish laundry and get ready for another long week……again.
I hate how fast the weekends go by……sigh. I can’t wait until Easter for a nice long weekend.
We also got Ryan’s birthday gifts ordered. Gymboree is probably pretty happy with the total I spent but we wanted to make sure he knew we were thinking of him. I can’t believe he will be a year old in less than two weeks. Emily will be 2 on Friday! The time is just flying by!
Ok time for bed…..5 am is going to come way too early!
