“There is no season when such pleasant and sunny spots may be lighted on, and produce so pleasant an effect on the feelings, as now in October.” – Nathaniel Hawthorne
Happy Monday! Another rainy weekend has come and gone.
Friday evening we decided to take in the movie “Fury”. Clearly Edward’s choice but it was a good movie. Gory, graphic and blood filled but there was Brad Pitt so that was something.
Saturday morning started with rain and football for Emilio. Broncos are still undefeated but the Cardinals gave them a good fight. The rain had stopped before the game started and held off until after it finished so at least I didn’t get wet.
After Emilio’s game finished I went out to run a couple of errands. The skies were getting darker and darker and when I got home it started to sprinkle. Edward text me later to tell me that it was pouring at the football fields and a bit later that it was beyond pouring. Then he called for me to come pick he and Zachary up because they had cancelled games due to the weather. There was heavy rain on the way there and by the time we dropped Zach off it turned into a deep downpour.
We even ran into some flooded street and stalled cars while trying to get home. It was a pretty harrowing drive but we made it home safe and sound. And with an early stop to football we had time for a nap before the BBQ. That was a nice surprise treat.
I was asked to bring beans for the BBQ. The first year I went to the birthday we were asked to bring chips and dips…….lol. So I guess beans is an improvement. It always makes me nervous because I don’t even generally eat beans so I’m not sure if they are good or not. But apparently they are good. 🙂We got to the party about 6 and there was sooooo much meat. Sausage, ribs, chicken, brisket………add to it rice, beans and potato salad. There was plenty of food and great grandkids running around. Giuli and David put on a demonstration of their tumbing skills. David’s version of a cartwheel was him flopping to the ground.
Normally Sunday is our relaxation day but since they had cancelled half of the football games on Saturday they had to do them Sunday afternoon. Edward headed out in the afternoon for football and I got to stay home and do housework. It’s always nice to have a nice clean house. I even put together tonight’s dinner!
Susan brought shrimp tacos and mojitos for dinner last night which is always yummy. Then we watched a couple of comedy shows before she went home. Wrapping up our oh so exciting weekend was going to bed at 9:15. ☺️. Not a bad way to end a weekend.
Giuli is having some dental surgery this morning so Edward will be keeping Vanessa company at Driscoll while I work.
That’s about it! Have a great Monday!
