And June is BIRTHDAY MONTH at our house!!!
My birthday is first on the agenda and since it falls on a Monday this year I got to spend this last weekend celebrating! We started Friday evening with dinner at Susan’s. She planned the entire menu around foods I pinned on my Pinterest board. Thank goodness I have good taste!
Pinterest dinner was fabulous!!!!! What a treat! We had a wonderful evening full of good food and great company. And when I say full I mean it. We were stuffed by the time we finished and I was pretty sure I would never be hungry again. Edward loved everything too except the strawberry mojitos. He thought those were too tart so he stuck with rum and cokes.
On the way to dinner Edward said even though my birthday wasn’t until Monday he wanted to go and pick out my gift on Saturday. But he wouldn’t tell me what it was.
Saturday morning we slept in a little bit and while I still wasn’t hungry Edward wanted to take me out for breakfast before we went to get my birthday present. I had no idea what he planned to buy me but was ready for the adventure. It was pretty late so we went to Denny’s for breakfast.
After breakfast we started to drive. I still had no idea where we were going. We drove through the parking lot to Cavenders where Ed said we were going to pick me out a pair of cowboy boots. YAY! He knew just what I wanted!!! We spent a while looking at all the different boots and trying to decide what I liked best. Of course the ones I liked best were $800—–lol. No, we didn’t buy those.
But we did buy these beauties! Aren’t they lovely???? I’m so excited about them and so grateful for my perfect birthday gift! Now I just have to find a dress to wear them with and I will be ready for dancing time at Garner.
We just got home when Susan arrived to pick me up for our surprise afternoon. She told me a couple of weeks ago to keep the day open but I didn’t know where we were going or what we were going to do. She did suggest dressing casually but warned we wouldn’t have our clothes on for a while anyway. We ended up at Moments In Time Holistic Spa for massages and pedicures. With wine!
The massage was fantastic and so relaxing! I had several knots in my back and it was great to have them worked out. It was easily the best massage I have ever had. Then it was on to pedicures—something I don’t get very often. Although I should.
I went with pretty blue and Susan got green. They look really cool. I was pretty sure that Edward would hate them but he said he said they look nice. 🙂
When we were leaving the spa there was a small thunderstorm overhead. Susan and I trying to run to the car in our pedicure flip fops without messing up our toes or falling down was hysterically funny. We both did it and have beautiful toes to show for it.
After the super relaxing afternoon at the spa we headed out for my birthday dinner at Pier 99. It was a perfect evening for sitting on the water and listening to live music with excellent company. The day just kept getting better and better.
We ordered the shrimp bonanza and ate shrimp until we were stuffed. The fried shrimp were HUGE!
It was really a great dinner. I couldn’t have asked for a more lovely evening and honestly could have stayed there for days.
Afterwards we drove to Politics and wrapped up the evening with the Spurs game and drinks.
There was another birthday girl at the bar and she had a crown and I was a little sad because I didn’t have one. So Susan borrowed a stapler for the bartender and McGyvered me up a crown of my own. 🙂
The result was I got bought a few shots one from Raul the owner of the bar. I don’t do shots of tequila often but what the heck! And one shot I had no idea what it was–that was the guy telling me happy birthday in Spanish, Polish and Gaelic. Of course he also propositioned Susan but she took a pass on it. Lol.
Sunday was a lazy day. Since we were out late we slept in late of course. It was 11 am before we managed to make it out of bed. With all the seaweed at the beach I decided to skip a beach day and instead hang out around the house and get caught up on some projects.
When we got the new king sized bed we couldn’t use our headboard. We are looking for something we like but it needs to be the right price point. In the meantime I found something on Pinterest that I thought would be perfect for the wall above our bed and we got it put up yesterday.
What a wonderful weekend. I’m blessed to have great friends and a great husband. Those are the greatest gift I could ever ask for. So here we go…… heading out on my last year in the 40’s. Yikes! Where does the time go? I still feel closer to 30!
