Happy Monday everyone! I hope your weekend was pleasant and relaxing.
We have been in the middle of an unusually pleasant weather pattern with cooler than normal temperatures and low humidity. With that great weather it was too nice to stay inside on the weekend. Perfect weather to go camping!!! Especially since we needed to open the trailer up and get it on order for the summer season. Of course we didn’t decide to do this until Thursday night so it was a rush to get going.
Edward hooked up the trailer and drove it to Lake Corpus Christi. With the terrible drought over the past few years the water levels have been extremely low so we hadn’t been there in a while. Once I got out of work and through the grocery store (OMG our grocery store on a Friday evening in the summer = nightmare) we headed out.
Fortunately we didn’t have too long of a drive but after stopping for dinner we got to the park right at sunset.
Just in time for some cocktails and star watching before bed. We even slept with the windows open and didn’t need the AC which was great. Except for a raccoon rumble outside after midnight. They were pretty hacked off at each other and very noisy!
Saturday morning was cool and lovely. It was so nice to sit on the dock and enjoy the quiet and the birds and relax in our chairs watching the sun come up.
We spent the morning cleaning and doing some repairs. It wasn’t a lot of fun but it was something that had to be done. By early afternoon we were finished just in time for naps and for Susan to join us. More cocktails and she brought banana bacon cookies! Delicious! There was a pretty sunset too and Edward took us to the castle thingie to see it!
We all slept like rocks that night too! Of course Sunday was cleaning up, packing up and heading for home. We took our time but still got home around 2 pm just in time for a shower and nap.
The painters had started painting our house while we were gone and actually almost finished when we got home. (Yay for getting rid of that ugly rust color) And the cats were in quite a tizzy. Rascal was especially freaked out by the noise and strange people. So after showers when we laid down for a nap pretty soon all three cats were snuggled in with us. That hardly ever happens. We often have two cats but very rarely three. I think they were pretty happy to have us home!
We are going to try to get camping more frequently again, we haven’t been out as often as we would have liked the last couple of years. Edward said at dinner on Sunday night that he was ready to go again and I agree. Any weekend when I don’t wear any makeup is a great one in my book.
And now it’s back to the grind. Hope you have a great week!
