Mother’s Day Weekend

happymothersA late Happy Mother’s Day to all the Mom’s out there.  I hope that you all had a pleasant and enjoyable weekend.

Friday was a stormy day around here.  We need the rain so no one was complaining about that but and we wisely decided that eating in would be a good idea.  The storms let up long enough to let us get home from work but then the thunder and lightening started in earnest.   Lots of flashes of lightening and booms of thunder.  Susan made one of Edward’s favorite dinners…..meatloaf and mashed potatoes.  Great night for comfort food and a movie.

Saturday morning dawned clear and humid.  It felt like a greenhouse outside.  Unbearable.  Since we were worn out from last week, Ed’s back was bothering him and Susan was still recovering from a minor surgical procedure Saturday was proclaimed “Pajama and Movie Day”!   What a nice way to spend a day.  Mimosa’s for breakfast, drinks in the afternoon, movies, naps and a some work on our new beach project made for a great  and relaxing day.

Mother’s Day we slept in late (Since we didn’t go to sleep until after 2 am) and had a great breakfast of French toast and bacon and belini’s.  There were lots of Happy Mother’s day phone calls and texts.  I really appreciate the one’s that I get. 🙂

According to the weathermen Sunday was supposed to be the pick day of the weekend so we planned on a beach day.  The rain really packed down the sand so driving was good but the seaweed was still terrible.  The clouds had burned off when we got there and we were fully slathered in sunscreen to prevent burns.

The seaweed hadn’t improved at all from last week.  And it doesn’t smell too good in some areas either.  We found a good or decent spot and set up the chairs to get some sun.  For a couple of hours it was great but then the clouds started rolling in and it got chilly.  A little disappointing but we made the best of it coming home and unpacking in time for naps, dinner and more movies.  And there were no sunburns which is always a bonus.

In short I made it the entire weekend without putting on a drop of makeup or a bra.  In fact other than going to out to get tacos for breakfast on Saturday morning I didn’t even put on clothes.

It was fabulous!!!!!!!!

And now it’s time to wrap up the weekend and head to bed.  Monday morning will be here before we know it.

Have a great week everyone!
