Welcome To July!

You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness.  You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism.  ~Erma Bombeck

Happy Monday everyone and hello to a short work week!  Personally I think they should make the 4th of July like Memorial Day and Labor Day and celebrate them on the first Friday or Monday in July so that every Independence Day was a long weekend.   Wednesday is easily the worst day of the week to have a holiday on.  On the bright side we get a day off in the middle of the week.  On the down side it makes it difficult to turn it into a long weekend.  😦

Oh well, it will still be fun!

Edward sent me this picture on Friday afternoon……lol.  Spooky has now discovered that sleeping on our bed is awesome so there has been some rearranging in the sleep hierarchy.   Especially with the hot weather everyone has been staying inside and sleeping during the day and crawling the streets at night.

We didn’t really do anything this weekend.  We had planned on a beach day on Saturday but thanks to this:There was no beach day.

We woke up about 4 am Saturday to thunder and lightning and rain.  Plenty of rain.  We got almost 4″ at our house between Friday and noon on Saturday!!!   I love snuggling and hearing the rain on the roof and the thunder outside.

Edward said he got up and there was Whitey sitting at the back door in the pouring rain and when he opened the door to let him in Spooky came charging in right behind him.   Then he did a head count and Rascal was still missing so he went to the front door and found him under the bench.

Then Whitey refused to go back out into the rain so Ed cracked the garage door and let him wait out the storm in there.

With the weather putting the kabash on our beach day we spent the weekend puttering around at home.  It was restful and relaxing because other than a little bit of housework we didn’t do anything.  Once the rain stopped it was super humid and muggy but at least we had electricity!!  It would have been miserable without.

All of the Sandcrabs made is safely home early Sunday morning.  It’s a long drive from Alabama and it sounds like everyone is happy to be home.

I think that’s about it for this morning.  Time to get some work done!  Have a great Monday everyone!
